So 5 mins in when Im focused on getting resources he opens the gates and sends out a hero and few cheap battalions and wipes me out. He would defend the walls and I would build up an army and attack in force. The first time I played the Helms Deep map online, I thought it would be played like the movie. Your just annoying and ruin the chance to indulge in fighting the wars of Tolkien's world. Sure it could be about skill, but this isn't COD4 or Crysis Wars, no one cares about skill.
Games came be over in 10 minutes, and I personally don't see how this is fun. Like any game it has good and bad players, pros and noobs, polite and rude people, but the one thing that unites them in BFME 2 is a common lust for a quick victory. I also play as the dwarven faction and have had many a victory, but I dont find the faction that interesting (incidently they only have 3 heroes too, but they are goood heroes). The goblin king has to little HP to make him effective and the Dragon is so expensive you can only get him late game and buy that time the enemy can destroy him without a second thought.Ĭonstant loss with victories only occuring when versing noobs is not fun.
Prior to patch 1.06 Shelob (the big spider) could hold off enemies, being capable of dealing with multiple units, but after the patch it has trouble dealing with one. It becomes terribbly annoying when you have Aragorn and squads of Gondor soldiers attacking your structures, and your units are dying on mass and your heroes are dead before they can kill ANYTHING. Heroes are key to victory in the game, and the goblin heroes are underpowered and wiped out easily, SUUUREE they have a dragon, but it dies within seconds facing 3 squads of archers. The goblins have 3 heroes, and they suck. The faction called 'Men of the West' has near 10 heroes including Aragorn, gandalf, Boromir, Faramir, Eowyn, Eomer, theoden etc (big players in book and movie) and the elves are similar with Elrond, ARwen, Glorfindel, Treebeard, Legolas, Thranduil etc. When combined with cave trolls they are good for an early game rush, BUT I DIDNT BUY THIS GAME TO RUSH!!! I want nice long online RTS battles.ĭespite this the units are (for the most part) evenly balanced with the other factions, the main goblin problem is heroes.įrom the fortress heroes can be produced, these are characters from Tolkien lore who are the 'heroes' of good and bad in the war of the ring. Goblin warrior units are cheap and can be mass produced but they are effectively useless. They are an interesting faction to play with, with many unique and diverse units strictly from Tolkiens works. Goblins are the small, wall-climbing orcs seen in Fellowship of the Ring in the Mines of Moria and are the main bad-guy race in the Hobbit novel. One major problem is the unbalanced-ness of the Goblin faction. Now many years later I have decided to try playing online, and it can be fun, but due to some patches and the community it often can't be.
The first real game I ever played was BFME 1 and subsequently when BFME 2 was released i had to get it and thoroughly enjoyed it. I doubt anyone will reply to this, or for that matter if any one plays the Lord of the Rings the Battle for Middle Earth 2 online in the Escapist but I figured I would voice my opinions anyway.
